Common questions
How do I set it up?
Add a delivery area: a circle around your shop, a shape you draw on the map, or a list of postcodes. Give it a price and the days you deliver. Then follow step 2 on Home to put the day picker in your cart. That’s it: the rates and the checkout rules are set up for you.
Do shoppers have to enter a postcode before they can buy?
No, never. The “Delivers to … tomorrow” check is optional and only informs. Shoppers pick a day in the cart like any other field, and Shopify checks the address at checkout.
Where do the fees come from?
Each zone becomes a Shopify shipping rate in your general shipping profile (“Local delivery · City centre”), with a free rate above your free-delivery amount. Shopify adds taxes and currencies as usual. Don’t rename these rates in Shopify: change the zone in the app instead.
What happens at checkout?
Each address only sees the rate of its own zone, renamed with the day and time picked in the cart. Shopify stops the order, with a clear message, if the address is outside your zones, the cart is under the minimum, the slot is full, the cut-off has passed or (if you ask for it) no day was picked.
Does it work on the Basic plan?
Yes. Checkout rules from App Store apps run on every Shopify plan.
What about “Buy it now” and express checkout?
They skip the cart, so no day is picked. If you ask for a date, Shopify sends those shoppers back to the cart to choose one. If many of your orders come that way, turn off the dynamic checkout buttons on product pages in your theme.
How are full slots counted?
From your orders: each new order with a day and time counts once, a cancelled order frees its place. When a slot reaches its maximum it closes in the cart and at checkout. Two shoppers paying for the very last place in the same second can both get it.
Which postcodes does the storefront check know?
For postcode zones, the ones you entered. For circles and drawn areas, every postcode whose centre is inside (from GeoNames, about 100 countries). Checkout uses the exact address, so an address near the edge is judged correctly there.
What happens if I go back to Free?
Your first area and first pickup place stay on; the others are switched off (their rates removed), not deleted. Capacity limits stop being enforced. Upgrade again and everything is back.
